Did you watch the Golden Globes on Sunday? Football was on at our house so I completely spaced it. But I did catch the reviews on the winners and glamour. I love Olivia Wilde’s dress and her hairstyle. It makes me want to go through my yearly Spring bang phase. I also thought Sandra Bullock’s dress was beautiful and different. Although the critics didn’t like her hairstyle, I thought it was fresh change from her usual style.
I’m loving that stroller blanket I purchased from Plain Zane. It’s a birdie print that’s not too feminine but still has just the right colors for a little girl. I use the blanket on the car seat and it becomes very handy when Chloe is sleeping or from protruding hands. It covers the entire car seat and weighted down by the little pillow. She’s still a little too tiny for complete exposure to the world.

Besides all my herbs that have taken over the top shelf, I finally reordered my favorite anti-aging face product, and they now have a special spot in the cabinet. For the last couple of months I’ve been neglecting the care of my face. Things like that happen during the last stage of pregnancy–ugliness starts to creep in, at least for me! I have been washing my face, but with not the greatest products and a part of my face kept breaking out. Finally I got up off my butt and made the order. My face can’t thank me enough.
Do you have a favorite face product?
Mine is Arbonne RE9 Advanced Set. Expensive, but a small amount goes a long way. I usually can make mine last 2-3 months.
After scanning the fashion magazines, opaque tights are on my Christmas list. With the right kind of skirt, they look so great! It actually brings some excitement to cool weather. I still love the look of tights with open-toe heels. Is that “in” still? And I do love the look of tights with booties.
She’s been talking about it since the beginning of summer. Bragging to her brothers and then questioning me, “Mom? When are we going on our date?” We started the tradition last year when Stella entered kindergarten–a special mommy/daughter date. Just her and me. Honestly I thought she forgot about it, but apparently not. She remembers everything we did and makes it known to her younger brothers that they can’t go on a date with me until they are going into kindergarten. So it’s a little bit of a treat.
It’s always nice to come home from vacation and hit up a sale. And not just any sale. A Tory Burch sample sale. Since I live in the ‘burbs, sometimes I forget all the cool things that happen in NYC. When I worked there (many years ago pre-baby period), to get in a sample sale you had to be invited. Yes…you had to get your name on a list. It was kind of annoying, but if you knew someone, who knew someone, who knew someone, you usually got in. And the sale prices were amazing…like $10-$50. I still proudly wear my old Marc Jacobs boots that I got for $50.
Anyway, now sample sales are a money-making business for these designers, not a way to unload last year’s clothes. Another reason why they changed the prices is because some people would load up on bags and bags of merchandise then turn around and sell it on ebay and make a business out of that. Don’t get me wrong on sample sales today…the markdowns are still amazing but not the kind of markdowns where they practically give it away. Also, no invite list. Instead for the Tori Burch sale, we waited in a two-hour line to get in. It was worth it though. I got some really great stuff for still a great price. So, if you happen to be heading to NYC, stop by the fashion district at 7th Ave and 38th St. and get a list of all the sample sales that are going on (not sure what their hours are) or check out DailyCandy or Clothingline.
