Here’s Domino‘s list of decorating don’ts. Ouch! I’ve been wanting to do #2 for quite some time:
Too many throw pillows on a bed.
A TV above the mantel.
Art hung too high.
Curtain hardware hung too low.
A sofa placed on a diagonal.
Pairs of everything—too stiff and contrived.
Rugs so white, they require shoe removal.
Uncomfortable antique sofas.

i’ve already ranted about domino’s latest issue on another blog, so i won’t get started here, but let’s just say i wasn’t super impressed with their don’ts. my least favorite: no family photos except in bedrooms and bathrooms. that rubbed me the wrong way.

I agree about the family photos. I didn’t really like that decorating don’t. They say that family photos should only be kept in private areas of your house, but I completely disagree. Family photos make your house more of a home and show others what your home is focused around. And I believe that family should be the center of the home. Show your loved ones off! And what’s up with ironing your sheets? Who has the time??

Oh, I iron my sheets all the time! Right after I pick up all the lint balls under the bed one at a time with tweezers and right before I lay the hand embroidered lavender sachets in the children’s drawers. Shame on you Darleen.
Actually, the only one I would add is don’t let your one year old play with a cantaloupe near your couch, or you may end up with no furniture in the living room at all.
