Pavarotti has been a favorite in the Waite household. I have grown up with his beautiful opera voice blazing in the background. Not surprising since my Dad sings opera. I have fond memories seeing him in concert–I think I had stars in my eyes the whole time. We were all sad to hear he lost his battle to cancer. So, my family in Vegas has made it a tradition to celebrate his life every year with listening to his music all day and eating peaches!? Not sure why they choose peaches–I think because it starts with the letter “p”. Anyway, I called over at the parentals this weekend and everyone was over there canning peaches, making peach pies, dehydrating peaches with Pavarotti in the background.

The tradition is actually A night of Peaches and Pavarotti. Next year we are thinking of adding penne pesto pasta with pine nuts in a pot to keep with the “p” theme. Fun times at the Waite household. After listening to Pavarotti that night Dad sang some of Pavarotti’s popular favorites accompanied by Mom. There is nothing like the power of that mans voice. It brought tears to my eyes. Pavarotti thank you for inspiring such a voice.

You ask why the peaches? It just so happens to be peach season, a wonderful time of year. So the peach menu that night was baked peach pie, fresh peach pie, and of course peach icecream. All were splendid.

We just happened to call home too that same night. It sounded busy over the phone, we could hear Dad singing, and I almost could smell the peach aroma. I love the Waite Fam!

I love the family tradition of peaches and Pavarotti. Couldn’t get much better than that!

How awesome is your family? Homemade peach pies/ice cream/and our Mom & Dad singing Pavarotti…that’s what I’m talking about.

I meant to say “your” not “our” as we do not share the same parents…my bad! (Is my face red?)

Nessum Dorma is probably one of my all-time favorite songs. The last 30 seconds is sublime and perfect.
You are a gifted soul to have grown up in a household with Pavarotti.
