Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and will I be getting any flowers from my honey? Sad to say, but the answer is no. I hate to confess it, but after years and years of persuasion I’ve come to accept the fact that I can’t change him. For some of you who know my husband well, he is ultra-conservative with money. So when it comes to paying $50 for a bouquet of flowers that are going to die in a couple of days, he feels it’s a huge waste of money. He’d rather spend it on dinner or a show. A night out together is fine with me, but I love getting flowers. There is something about it–like a surprise that brightens up your day. Anyway, I don’t pout about it anymore. Nope, guess what I do? I buy him flowers instead!

seth & i are on the same page. i never want flowers. i’d rather have the $$$ to go shopping with. 🙂 if anything, a cheap grocery store bouquet is good enough for me. but all flowers make me sneeze, so it’s really just a waste…
I have the solution. Have him buy you live flowers that you could eventually plant in your yard. Spencer bought me a gardenia plant one year. They smell so good. There is still time left.
Jake used to buy me flowers, but I always thought it was a waste of $$$. I’d so much rather a bag of bulbs to plant!
I love flowers and Mark thinks (like Seth) that it’s a waste – -but over time (33+ years now) he has come around to the fact that I love them. But he does buy them at Costco or Sam’s and that works for all of us.

I love flowers too. Too bad we have the same problem in our husbands. I too have started buying flowers for the house and Jason has started to notice how pretty they are!! Go figure.
