Renovation Ideas for Our Powder Bathroom Inspiration Makeover
When you move into a house that needs refreshening up and renovation work, you learn to exercise a lot of patience. Our house is about 15 years old, so it doesn’t need major renovations, but it does need cosmetic work. Our list is long, and we’ve done quite a bit, but I still feel like we have barely checked items off our list. We’ve been trying to complete our powder bathroom, and we are just about there. So, as we finish it up I thought I’d show you my powder bathroom inspiration board so you get the idea of the look we are going for. The before pictures are below.
I wanted to keep our powder board inspiration board neutral, with a little bit a touch of feminine. Our house is a New England style colonial so there is a lot of moulding through the house with traditional styles of finishes. Since we aren’t completely redoing the entire house, I didn’t want to completely change the traditional style of the house. More like just update the house keeping it traditional with a touch of modern.
Here are a few of our “before” pictures of the bathroom. The bathroom floor was covered in a rough rock tile that would hurt your feet to walk. So happy with the marble hexagon tile we replaced it with! The blue paint is horrible. Can’t wait when it is gone and covered in the floral wallpaper, which ties in the other wallpaper in the house.
On my Instagram stories, I asked everyone if I should replace the pedestal sink and everyone said yes! I am so happy we did!

Did you demo/remove the old pebble tiles yourself, or hire out? We choose those tiles for our bathroom floor too and I dislike them now that they’re installed for the same reasons you mentioned. I dream of changing out the floor, just dread how difficult (or expensive) it may be to remove them….

Hi Liz! We hired it out because the pebble tile was very tricky to get it out! We didn’t want to destroy the subfloor.
