Inspiration Board for our Kitchen Renovation Ideas
When we moved into our new house, I quickly realized that we didn’t have enough cabinet or counter space. Going from a large kitchen with a walk-in pantry to a smaller kitchen with no pantry was a sad adjustment. Hello, Connecticut living. Goodbye, Georgia living. Our kitchen in the Connecticut house wasn’t bad or even old. It just didn’t work for a large family of six, and for someone who cooks every night. I quickly realized that the kitchen just needed to be reworked to maximize its counter and cabinet space. For our kitchen renovation ideas, its best to make an inspiration board to get your vision visually down. Here is our kitchen renovation ideas board:
The priorities we needed for our kitchen renovation was to re-design the island to accommodate more cabinets and to have a larger counter space by making the island flat instead of split-level. Another priority was to build a wall pantry on one side of the kitchen in place of a closet.
See the before pictures of our Connecticut kitchen:
As you can see the kitchen was in pretty good shape, but it just needed a facelift to give it an update. So for our kitchen renovation idea, in order to keep cost down we decided to just rebuild the island, build a wall pantry on the other side of the kitchen and keep the existing cabinets around the perimeter of the kitchen and repaint them a bright white. The paint we ended up choosing was BM’s Chantilly Lace. We love the results! We also ended up redoing the countertops and backsplash. And then adding light fixtures. We love the results of our kitchen, and can’t wait to share the end results with you!

Darleen,
These room transformations are incredible. Thanks so much for being so brave to show before and after. It really helps us develop a better eye for design.

Ahh Thank you Mary Kay! I actually have so much fun doing this, and showing the before just brings a good imagination of what it can look like after.
