Witch Theme for this Year’s Halloween
It’s the Season of the Witch! Halloween is here, and I couldn’t resist going all out with a witchy theme to transform my home into a witch’s haven. From the floating witch hats and candles on my front porch to a bubbling witch brew station, every element brings a touch of magic to the season. Here’s how I put together a Halloween display that’s both spooky and fun, perfect for party guests, friends and trick-or-treaters!

Floating Witch Hats and Candles for an Enchanted Entrance
Nothing says “Welcome to the Witch’s Lair” quite like floating witch hats! These hats create an eye-catching display that appears to defy gravity—a little Halloween magic for everyone who visits.
- What You’ll Need: These black witch hats and it comes with fishing line. You also need Alien tape, which has worked great! It doesn’t peel paint and my hat have stayed hanging the entire month of October even when it has been windy. A couple hats have fallen down but its so easy to put back up.
- How to Make Them Float: Thread fishing line through the top of each hat, leaving extra line to vary the heights at which they hang. Secure them to the porch ceiling with a long strip of the alien tape.
- Adding Floating Candles for a Flickering Effect: Alongside the floating hats, I added flickering candles for a magical touch. These floating candles, inspired by classic witchy stories, bring warmth and mystery to the scene.
As dusk falls, these floating hats look like they’re hovering in mid-air—just the kind of eerie welcome to get people in the Halloween spirit!

DIY Witch’s Brew Station
No Halloween gathering would be complete without a bubbling brew station for guests! To transform my home into a witch’s haven I decide to decorate my brew station to enjoy all month long. This DIY drink station is easy to set up and adds an interactive, festive element for party-goers to enjoy.
- What You’ll Need: A large cauldron (or large bowl), dry ice for the bubbling effect, “potion” bottles for drink mixers, a ladle, and a few spooky decorations like spiderwebs, plastic spiders, and flickering candles.
- Setting Up the Brew Station: Place the cauldron at the center of your station and fill it with a tasty punch or drink mix. If you’re going for the full effect, add a bit of dry ice to get that bubbly, smoky look (just handle carefully!). Arrange the potion bottles around the cauldron with Halloween potion labels and fill with syrups. You can also add spooky gummy candies to add to the drinks and whip cream.
Your guests can mix their own spooky creations, making it a hit with both adults and kids. It’s a fun, interactive way to keep the theme alive while offering up some festive refreshments!
